About healed

I just moved to Glendale, AZ from Bloomington, IN. I was always healthy and active. I worked for thirty-three years doing hair and nails, I worked with hair and sculptured nail chemicals and products. I am a mother of seven children and a grandmother of 21 children. I have been married to a wonderful husband for forty-eight years as of June 2011. I had a mastectomy having breast cancer in 2005 and in 2007 I had a nephrectomy having kidney cancer. 2006 was rough with chemo taking it's toll on me and making me very weak, didn't know what was chemo effects and what was ALS symptoms.

Victoria's Walking Angels 2006 - 3 Day Walk for Breast Cancer;

Chemo takes its toll 2006;

Saturday Oct. 4, 2007;  I have been asked to speak on behalf of the Indiana ALS Association.  I speak with an ASL accent and it is hard to understand at times.

I was diagnosed with ALS in January, 2006. The average life span is two to five years.  I plan to live much longer and with your help and support I can.

Lou Gehrig said as he addressed his fans for the last time, "I am the riches man on earth".  Lou Gehrig did not have the ALS Association to help him through the struggle he faced on his finial journey in life, we do!   The ALS Association was founded in 1985 and is currently funding more than 100 research studies.

The ALS Association is a national non-profit health organization leading the way in research, patient and community services, public education, and advocacy - giving help and hope to those facing this devastating disease.  The mission of the ALS Association is to lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through research, and help people with "Lou Gehrig's Disease" and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.  The ALS Association helps patients and their families cope with the day-to-day challenges of living with ALS by providing information, resources, and referrals to many sources, including a wide variety of community services.

My thanks goes out to all that work for and with the ALS Association and all the volunteers, without them we would still be helpless and hopeless.  The ALS Association has provided my family and myself with equipment and information that has helped us face our future with courage and hope.  My hope in being here tonight is that you will be aware of the ALS Association and the next time you see a fund raiser for ASL you will donate, it might be your dollar that finds a cure.

Thank You!
