- I infused myself daily with rocephin through a port in my chest. i had to be so clean and careful. and i couldn't shower for a week(until the nurse cameto change the needle). After 5 weeks of the drug through IV i started getting major pains in my side and ended up in the emergancy room getting my infected gall blader out. Common side effect of the drug apparently. Ive stopped lyme treatment currently.
