My name is Kathleen,I am 82 years old, My husband George is a retired Police Officer,he is my caregiver. We have three daughters, one granddaughter and three grandsons. Our home is on the Manitoulin Island where we are still in our own home and hope to remain so.
Dr. Blaine Foell my neurologist told me that I had PD in 2004 .Looking backI had symptoms as far back as 1994-6. my first complaint was that i had trouble washing my hair. By the time I realized that it wasn't just old age i was having Balance and walking problems.
We have had a cleaning woman for many years come in for three hours a week. The rest of the week swiffering and dusting and wiping up the kitchen and bath keeps our home ok. The cooking and washing etc.are done in my own speed with georges help, lately i find that he is taking on more and more responsibilities.
My appointments with my family dr. are every month and the neurologist every three or four months.
Would like to add the symptom diskinesia. my mouth and tongue move in jerky movements .
This happens every day,lasting a half to two or three hours
