About Howdy

I've had ALS for 12 years. In 2004 I started on supplements and changed my diet. This slowed the progress down. See more about me for my diet.

More About Howdy

This is my Diet. I don't eat any red meat, no white flour, hydrogenated oils, fried foods, coffee, tea, cola's, chocolate and cut way back on sugar. Sugar will suppress your immune system. I try to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. I drink distilled water, carrot juice, orange juice and apple juice.  I mix the silver in 1/2 gal of distilled water and drink from it thru out the day. Most PALS don't drink enough water to get the toxins flushed out of their body. I also drink super green foods and goatein, which is a goats milk protein. The green food I like is called Perfect Food it and the Goatein is made by www.gardenoflife.com .  I mix them in about 10 to 12 oz of distilled water with a banana in a blender.  I take several Amino Acids, Taurine is the main one ,I also take Amino care which is an Amino Acid blend. www.aminocare.com . I take a mineral supplement which has 74 different minerals in it. The minerals have stopped most all of the muscle cramps. I eat fish, chicken or turkey. I try not to eat processed foods that you buy in the stores because of all the additives that are put in them. Such as MSG, Aspartame, High Frustose Corn Surup and etc. MSG depletes your body of Taurine, with out Taurine the other Amino Acids won't work right.  I take vitamin D3, B12, C, and E ( tocotrienols ). You can look on my profile to see the rest of my supplements. Some are for pain and inflammation. This diet change along with the supplements I take has slowed the progress of my ALS down. I don't know if it will work for anyone else or not. My Neurologist told me in Oct 2006 to continue doing what I have been, because he thought that it was working. He said that I have a good chance of out living the ALS unless I live to be over a 100. I'm stronger than I was 2 years ago and have less problems. I'm still progressing but at a much slower rate. I will be 74 0n Feb 28, 2012.  I bought a book called Prescription for Nutritional Healing it cost me $20 but you can find it on Amazon used for $5 or less. It will tell you what supplements to take for what ails you. It has been very helpful in knowing what to take and what not to. Some supplements work against each other and should not be taken together.

I hope that this will help others as it has me. Howdy
