I was always a tough kid. I never backed away from anybody or anything as kid or as a USMC "Grunt" in Vietnam. When I was diagnosed with PD I just knew my life was over. All I could think was, What am I going to do? How am I going to take care of my family from a wheel chair? Between my Dr's and my wife, I have realized, my life is not over. Unless! I just sit down and give up. Sure, I've got PD but I'm dealing with it day to day for as long as I can. An elderly man once told me the secret to "Living A Long Life". He said. Boy. I grew up in the Midwest, my parents were the Babyboomers who fled the cotton fields of the south for the big city life. Mom and Dad both worked the mid shifts 4 to 12. So that left me to roam around with some pretty tough crowds in my teens. I got the credit for mischief that some of my buddies were involved in that got them arrested. I never liked school and hated bullies. I steered clear of them for as long as I could but when they came calling they got more than they bargained for. I knew by my Junior year in HS the minute i graduated my butt was gone for the draft. So the minute I turned 17 I signed up for the Marines.I convinced my folks to sign for me to enlist. I was in Vietnam 7 months after my 18th birthday. I was back in the Naval hospital at Great Lakes Naval Base 4 months later recuperating from my wounds. Now the fight continues in the form of PD. Thank You! Agent Orange. But I am one of the lucky ones I came home alive just missing some parts. AS Paul Harvey would say. Now you know the rest of my story.
