- As I was smoking this cigarette, I needed it less and less. I was trying to quit smoking, period, and I have. Though laws prevent makers of these devices from advertising them as a way to stop smoking, they are an excellent tool for just that. The trick is to not give in to the urge to go back to real smoking. For me those urges occurred only during the first 3 days.
