Hello there, I am mostly known here as IAD.(2009-2011) and then known as CodyKinz in the year of (2011-2012) Yes I am 16, A young age to be exposed to everything. I can ensure you my maturity level has surpassed my age, which is why I continue to participate in this community. PLM has had a great impact on my tolerance with depression, and my advancements of recovery.

In the year of 2009, I was suspecting symptoms of depression at the age of 13. Very young age, yes I know. As I dug deep into my own research I had concluded that I was a victim of depression. I diagnosed myself based on the facts I collected, which is extremely dangerous and wrong to do. Although, I was right.

I reached out to a fellow teacher my 7th grade year ( 2009 ) and they helped me tell my mom how I felt. Although, that didn't really open her eyes enough. It was a little shrugged off. I don't remember exactly, but I joined PatientsLikeMe in November of 2009. This was the base of my whole journey.

PatientsLikeMe has CHANGED my life, because of the people and community here. This was my outlet, and I shared and poured my heart into these forums and connected with hundreds of people around the world. Regardless my age. My depression began to worsen, once my eyes were open. I felt the pain I had hid for so long.

I was enrolled in therapy soon after, and I still continue to go to this day! * Woohoo for Therapy. It's amazing <3 Depression or not * My suicidal thoughts began to submerge and soon consume. I had thousands of emotions buried through my body. I hadn't known they existed! Therapy and PatientsLikeMe opened my eyes and the scars to let me live a happier life!

It's a struggle, I can tell you that. But, the feeling that you've overcome a mental illness is amazing. Recovery is always one step away, just take it one at a time. Never give up, stay strong. I still fight with moderate to severe depression, but I can control it now with all the coping mechanisms I've learned over past few years. Depression helped me grow as a person and made me who I am today, in a positive way. Look at the positives, and keep fighting. Cuz there is an end to suffering. And a beginning to happiness.
