The first thing anyone needs to know about me is that I am a Christian. My faith defines who I am, by defining how I react to situations in my life and relate to those people around me. I don't see my fibromyalgia as an injustice being done to me, nor do I see it as punishment for some wrong I've done in the past. Rather, I see it as God allowing me to be tested so that I will learn my own strength, my own boundaries, and my own abilities.
I teach skin care with Mary Kay Cosmetics. I don't like to "sell" it because that's not where the emphasis should be. I have used Mary Kay for many years, and love what they do for my skin. The only thing I love more is sharing them with others. ;)
I am also the web guru and crochet geek for a local quilting charity known as Sew for HOPE. Our primary mission is to provide handmade quilts and blankets to the children served at one of our local homeless shelters. Through various donations and other on-the-spot opportunities, we have also provided minor sewing services to shelter residents, taught basic sewing, knitting, and crochet skills, given stuffed toys, and other items related to quilts and blankets but just not quite the same. We have also reached our initial goal of providing a blanket to every child served by this one shelter, which now allows us to start reaching out to other shelters in the area.
I have three dogs - all Dalmatians. Two are retired show dogs, and the third is a Dalmatian/Pointer mix we adopted from a shelter in Alabama. All have distinct personalities and quirks. Our oldest is developing age-related hearing loss, and has learned how to turn his head to feign not being able to hear when he's being told to do something he doesn't want to do. The middle "child" thinks she's the princess and should get the best of everything, while the youngest (the rescue dog) either wants to have her butt scratched or asks us to make someone move off "her" blanket so she can have it back. (Neither one of these requests get her the results she wants, but she keeps asking anyway.)
