I am a 50-year-old woman, happily married with two sons, ages 22 and 19, a Beagle, Jake and a cat, Hope. Hope is what I cling to every day with my bipolar disorder. I have carried the diagnosis for 30 years this October. Although I have a VERY understanding and loving husband of 25 years this June, bipolar consumes my every day. I'm on 4 different medications for this condition, that which I believe I have become overmedicated and am in the process of changing psychiatrists. The medical community has become a great disappointment to me. I stopped counting admits at 30. I'm looking for support.
