ITP in 1983 had splenectomy, tested poz in 1986, got sick in 1998 (3 opportunistic infections, CMV gastritis, cryptosporidia, and PCP) with a CD4 count of 1394.
While being treated at the VA Hospital in Tampa, lymphocytic colitis went undiagnosed for 4 years (diarrhea was blamed on meds), DVTs went undiagnosed for at least 3 months (blamed on neuropathy because of being on D4T).
Anyone ever hear of someone with falsely elevated CD4? Not common at all, was seen in some patients who had a splenectomy in the 80's, might be associated with ITP.
Will update as I find my info.
