Hi...I'm married to my wonderful husband, Randy and between the 2 of us we have 2 boys and 2 girls. We have 2 grandchildren who are a real delight! My husband is my rock and without him I surely would have given up long ago on this long road towards getting a diognosis.
My symptoms started about 8 years ago with Peripheral Neuropathy in feet. Tested again and again for Diabetes and nothing ever showed up. Negative MRI. Electrical Conductivity tests at Neurologists showed up just on my feet. I have been under an Internests care and he has pretty much just helped me with the pain aspect of all this and nothing really towards getting a diagnosis. It just wasn't important to me i guess until about 4 months ago when things really came screeching to a halt and I finally decided that I'd better get some answers.
I called and made an appointment to see my Internest and wrote down all of my new complaints which had really accelerated to include paripheral neuropathy in my arms and right side of my face. I was having trouble with my balance and walking in general and then there's my memory...it's really gotten strange.
I went up to see my Daughter and her boyfriend the day after Thanksgiving this last year (2008) and she pulled me aside and said that she had noticed that things just weren't right with me such as forgetting things, feebleness, etc., so I knew that I had better get something done.
After seeing my Doc., Monday he sent me down to the lab that day, then scheduled me for an MRI yesterday (Tuesday) and up to another Neuro today (Thurs.,) I don't know the results from the MRI or the blood work but the Electrical Conductivity tests showed extensive damage (Mod. to Severe) up to my knees both legs and both arms/hands along with right side of face. He said that I have axiol damage only in my legs/feet and Myelin in my arms & hands. He said that it's not from my spine or neck and he mentioned ms in regards to my facial symtoms.
I just want a name for this and hope that they find an answer soon.
