About C.J.

I am 68 years old. I first noticed a slurring of my speech one year ago especially when I was tired. The diagnosis last April and August was that I probably had ALS but it was not definitive as of yet, but probably would be in time. I have noticed a definite heaviness in my leg and foot the last month. I am trying to be proactive and take advantage of all the help that is offered. I have been taking Rilutek for two months. I return to the Mayo Clinic for more tests next week. My family and friends have been very supportive and I believe you have to have a positive outlook.

More About C.J.

I call this time in my life "The Journey into the Unknown."  I have been attending ALS Support Group meetings  and they have been helpful.  I don't exercise as much as I used to but I find aroebic swimming beneficial.   I am trying to stay "on top" of things and am planning ahead for the time when I might need healthcare in my home.  In the meantime I am "going full speed ahead" until the time comes when I cannot.  My best wishes and prayers for everyone.
