Goals and Dreams
I hope to get my PhD. in something close to virtual reality. I want to go into VR programming. There are many applications for virtual reality from games to simulation for surgeons, astronauts and pilots to therapy for people with disabilities. I hope to further VR research and eventually join a company that works with it, perhaps starting my own. I also would like to write fantasy books or manga on the side. Those are only my goals for my professional future. My other goals include overcoming some of the challenges that I am faced with, doing well in school, getting a service dog, and reaching certain goals in games.
Languages
I am a native speaker of English. I have learned French in school since a young age, but I do not use it much. I stopped taking it after eighth grade. I know a little Latin, but not much. I am hoping to become fluent in Japanese.
Beliefs
My parents are Christians, but I am an atheist. Many atheists would not agree with that definition of my beliefs, hence I sometimes call myself an atheistic Pantheist. My beliefs fall primarily within the premises of atheism but I believe both that nature is a greater force that should be respected and that there is something more than the mundane world. I am also a Therian. This means that I basically believe that I have the spirit/general psychological state of an animal. My animal is an Arctic Wolf.
Disabilities
Yes, I listed the disabilities that I have been diagnosed with above. I am mainly affected by them in social situations, when I have to physically do things like write or play catch, or when there is a lot of sensory input. This can be very hard to cope with, so I use computers, medication, various coping techniques, sensory aids, and therapy. I have also been fighting for a service dog for three years.
Location and Education
I live in the Boston area, but I go to Maine for weekends and school breaks. I go to a small high school in the Boston area that has ties to a university, thus allowing its' students to use university facilities and even take some university classes. My dad lives and works in Texas. He comes home on weekends, holidays, and some weeks.
Political Views
I am a very liberal Democrat. I do not hate Republicans, I simply do not agree with their views. My most important issues are health care systems, government benefits, environmental issues, and anything that has to do with people with disabilities.
