After a year of doctors' appointments, suffering physical therapy and receiving injections, my family Dr. finally suspected that the pain and stiffness in my arm and my twitching finger could indicate something serious. I was referred to a neurologist. I went alone for the appointment because I did not think about having a serious problem. The doctor asked a few quetions, and told me I had PD. I was so surprised.

I started with the new patch for my medication. After about six months I had a severe reaction to the patch and had to start Requip. The requip wasn't as effective. It became very difficult to use my left hand, expeically typing. I then started taking Sinemet and Selegiline. I learned of my PD diagnosis on a Thursday, looked online that evening for a PD support group. I found one nearby in Rome, GA and attended my first meeting the next Tuesday evening. I knew immediately that I needed help from others to fight this disease.
