MS has taken so much from me. The old Susie use to hunt. My lord I LOVE to hunt, but now with limited vision, and stength I can no longer hunt. I don't think I could hold a feather weight 22-250 up to shoot a buck. Just a couple of years ago I got seven bucks in one year, and we ate every bite of them. Man you talk about good meat. Ever try some deer jerky now that is some good stuff. I had two thousand acres to hunt on. I was only able to hunt for six years before that came to an end. It was good while it lasted though
Fishing is another thing I love to do not anymore. I can't take the heat. My first husband took me fishing with him early one morning heck it was about five am. I thought to my self there is no self respecting fish going to bite this dang early in the morning, boy was I wrong. I caught a 16 lb. bass. That was the last time I went fishing with him LOL.
With my husband now we like to go dive for scallops. Scallop season starts the 1st day of July it is sooo much fun, and soooooo hot. It takes about a hour to get your limit of scallops, and about three hours of drinking beer, and cleaning them and bull shiting with your friends. Now thats gone too.
Planting a garden every year I always had a garden. One in the summer, and one in the winter. I would have mustards, collards turnips, rutabagas, cabbage, lettuce, carrots, potatos, corn, cucumbers, pole beans, squash, tomatos, bell pepper, okra, zipper peas, lima beans. You could just about name it and I grew it. What we didn't eat fresh out of the garden I would can. My garden and the chickens was my relaxing time. I like to watch the chickens go and throw them some scratch and watch them get it. Gather thier eggs every morning.
The steers can't forget about Bubba, Clifford, and Spot. Heaven knows why we named something we was going to eat, but we did. Clifford you couldn't get to attached to him because he was blind, so when he got use to his suroundings, and he heard you coming to feed him he would get in a cornner so you could feed him, and when he heard you leave the pen he would go eat. Now Bubba, and Spot they were differant you could sit on them if you had a cold drink can in you hand they would nudge you until you gave it to them they loved pepsi. Kids would get to attached to them though, one day the would go to school, and when they would come home ole' Bubbl would be gone. The next thing you know we would have a freezer full of.......... Bubba.
Believe it or not I really liked to help my husband build airboats too. It was kinda of fun. If you have never worked with fiberglass you would never believe how a boat is made. It just blew my mind. Which that isn't hard to do. I thought it was fun after you laid the cloth, and they put the chop in it you have to get a roller and roll the air out of the layers. I guess I am wierd, but I thought it was kinda of fun oh well thats gone too!!
This is a picture of the boat that we would take to get scallops. It was great for the ocean because it will not sink. It will go on land or water it's a hoss for a 19' boat. The guy on it is a friend of ours we call him Rambo because he was in the special forces. Yikes
Will have more pictures soon. Susie
