Profile of Ms. Assumpta Ngozi Reginald Ms. Assumpta Reginald is a Business Administration student Federal Polytechnic Nassarawa, (Higher National Diploma) Centre for distant learning, She hail from south Eastern Nigeria, Assumpta Reginald is deeply concern with the evaluation in human dignity in most part of the world and advised that good understanding of what is ideal and what is real in every situation will assist greatly in overcoming some of the contemporary social challenges. She has great experience having worked in both public and the private sector in different capacities. Every great achievement starts with an individual and great mind, they said discuss issues. Assumpta started her humanitarian work in the area of HIV/AIDS and Poverty as a Volunteer in June 2000 three months after diagnosed positive for HIV with non-governmental organization known as Unique Aid Foundation for People Living with AIDS (UAF+). (Support Group) UAF+ works to improve the quality of lives of people living with HIV/AIDS, Orphans and Vulnerable Children. In recognition of its work particularly at the community level, UAF+ was declared Winner of the Prestigious Journalist against AIDS (JAAIDS) Red Ribbon Award 2006 “Corporate Category” while individual category was won by Assumpta Reginald under Breakers of Silence and stigma fighter. As a compliment to her vision, Assumpta was elected in 2004 as a National Public Relations officer of Association of women living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN) which gave her the leverage to reach out to a good number of women living with HIV/AIDS in all part of the country. She has been involved in Palliative home based care in the communities visiting bed ridden PLWHA, she has also faced both the print and electronic media both in Nigeria and outside Nigeria, Currently Assumpta is Running a Jingle on Stigma and discrimination on the Network Service of Nigerian Television authority (NTA), The Jingle is expected to last for one year, Research and sampled opinions confirmed her good leadership style, fairness, transparency, receptivity and above all respect for human dignity. In recognition of her good work and in order to sustain the progress, Mrs. Assumpta was elected and confirmed as a National Treasurer of Network of people living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) on 17th February 2006, a position she maintained to date, In June 2006 Assumpta founded an Organization for women Living with HIV and AIDS in the Community called WOMANKIND Nigeria, Her contributions to development work goes beyond Nigeria and Africa. She has been recognized severally as Unsung Hero and was among the six persons that received UNILIVER Nigeria PLC Prize for her outstanding role in giving a human face and voice to the problem of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria as well as her contribution to universal access initiative. The Award took place in June 2006 in Sheraton Hotel Lagos during the positive Action for treatment Access (PATA) two years Anniversary. Mrs. Assumpta has participated in several Special Missions to different part of the world, including the United States of America where she attended a five weeks Training workshop called Women lead in the fight against AIDS Organized by Centre for Development and populations activities (CEDPA), while in America she also visited (FHI) Family health International, Arlington, Washington DC for a brown bag presentation, The most recent of her international assignment was the Joint Ambassadors of Hope Mission to Sierra Leone in May 2007 where she engaged members of Parliament of Sierra Leone alongside with her other colleagues to pass the model Law on HIV/AIDS, an initiative of AWARE-HIV/AIDS based in Accra Ghana, a USAID funded project. Assumpta Reginald has served and is still serving as member of the board of FCT Action Committee on AIDS (FACA) Presidential Committee on the Scale of ART in Nigeria, Ethic Review Board on HIV/AIDS, Civil Society on HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CiSHAN), Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN), Association of women Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN), Unique Aid Foundation (UAF+), CEDPA Positive Living Project, and Currently the Program Director WOMANKIND Nigeria, a Coomunity based Association of Women and Children Living with HIV and AIDS among others. She has traveled across the continent of Africa, Europe and the Caribbean in the course of her work. The impact of her work will continue to be felt in, Senegal, Gambia, Kenya, Niger, Bukinafaso, Sierra Lone, United State of America among others where she has personally touched lives during some of her short assignment to those country. Mrs. Assumpta Reginald is a Catholic Christian by Faith She is desirous to know more about the God of Israel who saved her twice from the mouth of the lions even as she pledged to serve Him for the rest of her life.
