More About NicoleH
In the last 14 years I have learned to listen to your body. I never felt as though any of my diagnosis were correct. Now I am more at ease with this diagnosis. Everything just kind of fits.
My life is my family. If I didn't have them I don't know where I would be. That includes all the friends I have had for so many years that they are no longer just friends, they all have become my family.
Other things that have helped me over the years is to eat healthy. More fruits and vegies, and nuts, less meat. Stretching and Yoga are dire. Even on my bad days when I am not able to get out of bed I stretch. Relaxation techniques and massages are great too.
I rescue animals when I can and sometimes help the process for abandoned animals to find a new loving family. That is so rewarding. I collect dragonflies, angels, butterflies and cherubs mainly they help me feel relaxed. I am learning to ask for help. Although I am still mostly indepentent I do need help ...... I guess more often than I ask for it. I use an electric wheelchair at the grocery store, on bad days when I can still function I use a cane for balance. Stairs are a challenge.... but I have figured those out now too ... I scoot on my rump step by step. Yes things take a little longer than they used to. And sometimes I have to figure out a new way of doing certain things but I can still do them.
Never give in to the disease.
Don't let PLS change who you are just the way you do things. Use your mind it is still in great shape although sometimes a little foggy, wipe away the fog and get on with your life and enjoy it.
