My biggest area of negativity is with work and finances at this time. I have little of either. Having said this I now have a fantastic and lovely man in my life and he's very kind, generous and affectionate. Plus we seem to both have a good strong sex drive - which in all honesty was completely 'kaput' one year ago - worse yet, I had accepted that as my new normal. About 9 months ago I may have had a day 'blip of horniness' or a few months later 2-3 days, and I would think yippee! I'm back! But no - it took a full 12 months and regular attempts at stimulation (yep that's right - you gotta get the circulation going even if you fall asleep doing it once or twice . . . what can I say I'm the proactive type.) One issue I will admit is that once the hormones do get themselves into a high regular output I found that my testosterone wained just a little post ovulation - which is still fine - as many of my peri-menoupasal friends fully have no sex-drive. I would recommend a mild mineral supplement therapy to any women or man in this condition (see my comments on iritis posted Feb 24/2013.)

At this time I am able to commit to making a strong decision to give up my mental sense of dispair towards jobs and money and instead focus on the plentiful & abundance around me. I'm naturally at ease and smiling a lot and so it's a good headspace to be as my judgements about life are diminishing. There are opportunities and my brain is in better shape now to take them on . . . and so I am much more hopeful, yet willing to accept my imperfections and struggles.
A good thing for the iPad users (I use my sister's) is "Mindsnacks" App - they teach languages. I've done all the French modules and now I keep repeating different games to bring up my areas of weaknesses. The other day I scored 98 on a balloon game that I usually start at a speed and accuracy of 60-ish; months ago it may have topped out at 74 - today I hit 104! If you practice these games be sure to use each hand separately and say the phrases or words out loud as they flash by. It's important to exercise each side of the brain for function and work your auditory skills as well after using any medication for chemotherapy. As for me, I found that my head jumbled a lot of words and thoughts over the past 2 years - so 'Mindsnacks' has been a fun and surprisingly beneficial tool.

Iritis/HLA-B27 gene marker for Ankylosing Spondylitis/Reynaud's and other arthritic symptoms.
Doing really, super fantastic! Using no pharma what-so-ever over the past year. Had to overcome the damage from the excessive amounts of both dexamethasone and prednisone.
    What am I doing?

1/exercise daily; 2/for low exercise eat less carbs and sugars; 3/ take adrenal stimulating minerals at the end of breakfast (200mcg selenium, 50mg zinc, 575mg Atlantic Sea Kelp for Iodine, one squirt of chlorophyll - contains elemental copper, 100-150mg Magnesium Citrate); if you use this you'll find it supports an over stressed adrenal and thyroid and will help the energy levels in your blood as you get a more complete release of hormones from these glands daily, including testosterone. Have sex! It will release endorphins that will make you feel good and find a good person to be with who is supportive and who you can ask for what you need. There is a strong psychosomatic aspect to these immuno-conditions so supporting yourself emotionally, hormonally, being physically active and being social is important along with learning to cope with the things in your life that you've chosen to either repress, shove aside, or get someone else to do - make a choice and treat yourself with care and love and be responsible to yourself.

4/Lastly and very importantly during flare-ups: 1/2hr before each meal take 2x Acidophillus capsules (6 billion active cells per) + 2x Alpha-Lipoic Acid (100mg per capsule) Webber Naturals has the best price on the Acidophillus and Nature's Bounty for the Alpha-Lipoic Acid. Also take at early morning and before bedtime. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, moulds, and anything that's giving you stress, inflammation or rashes during this time.

5/ This is a drug free solution because the drugs had me in a very seriously depressed and unworkable condition. I couldn't even add numbers and most things people said would flip on me - it was awful. Has taken over 12 months to completely repair from dex and pred and I'm never doing those again - they seemed to cause more disease and only kicked in when I chose to eat next to nothing.

6/ Eat more protein, fats, water, natural foods and avoid simplified carbs (in other words carbs that don't require your body to metabolize as they've been pre-processed.) Take a decent multi-vitamin and for me I added an herbal eye health tablet and 4000mg of Vit D coupled with 500mg Vit C (take these throughout the day and if you're in a sunny environment don't worry about the Vit D - up here in Canada I have to include this particularly through fall, winter and spring - summer I skip it completely. Be certain to get your B vitamins in the mix - important. Also - try not to over eat. If your doing endurance sports like anyone you have to watch your electrolyte balance; in off times if you feel well it's probably due to some good balancing you've managed a few days before. If you feel awful - it's because you chose not to pay too much attention to your body a few days previously.
Get outside! Get good people around you and have a good adventurous life! I cannot stress this enough as my arthritic conditions and lack of mobility, anger, depression, etc, it all started with rage and then the eye and tinitus in my head would follow and kaboom I'd be in a full attack lieing around with an icepack on my eyes and head to calm the inflammation in me head. Also - if you're a woman with painful period cramps - it's just inflammation - try the icepack for 10-15 minutes on your lower belly - it'll feel really good and it will gently relieve the pain and all the fuzziness that goes with that. Call me crazy but after the pain of endometriosis and 2 laproscopies I wish someone had suggested that to me long ago.

So for the fellas - I hope you pay attention - even though this is coming from a woman. I come from a family of multiple cripples in wheelchairs. There's a lot at stake for me and I learned a lot over the past 24 years in handling this (but most over the past 2). I hope you'll find some comfort in this long note and some benefit to my solutions. It's a package deal - they work in together as a set - just like a good multi-tool screw-driver, you wouldn't want the Phillips w/o the Allen key, etc., it just wouldn't be a multi-tool w/o.

Why this works: Immuno problems are assumed to be caused by an overactive immune system. So some very good doctors have been trained to offer anti-inflammatory prescriptives to treat such conditions as excessive inflammation can cause tissue and organ damage and loss of function. But don't pannick - over 40 years ago it was observed and well-accepted that Rheumatoid Arthritis had a very strong psychosomatic trigger. In other words if you experience loads of stress in your work life, personal life and you have troubles expressing peacefully and negotiatively what you want and need - it can result in overt inflammation in people with certain gene markers 'turned on'. It can also express itself as cancers (see: Dr.Gabor Mate's book - When The Body Says No, the cost of hidden stress.)

The Acidophillus helps support the good bacteria in your gut - reduces gas and helps your body calm down it's inflammation - and because over 60% of your immunities are in your gut this is a reasonable place to start. So if you support instead of suppress those immunities they may not flare-up into an overt reaction quite so often or quite so aggressively.

The Alpha-Lipoic Acid is used by type-2 Diabetes patients to help them absorb and convert carbs into sugars which is energy to your body and brain - a very good thing. Some arthritics and those with Ankylosing Spondylitis (HLA-B27 gene marker) will have at times large amounts of the Klebsiella bacteria in their gut - some of this bacteria is normal - but for some of us it becomes too much and we don't handle it well. So if you can physically feel your stomach turn into a gaseous expandable mass after certain foods or drinks and you eventually have troubles breathing and the feeling that your bowels are bearing down (trying to poop) - give this combo a try consistently at the higher dosage until it goes away. Then go down to the maintenance dosage.

7/ Maintenance: When I'm on Maui cycling and getting sun and fantastic organic foods grown right there, or eating lots of protein, butter, coconut and olive oils, nuts, and lots & lots of leafy greens - I only take my acidophillus and alpha-Lipoic Acid maybe twice a day tops along with the morning vitamins. But here at home in Vancouver, it's three times a day, plus regular multi vitamins and the minerals. If I have a little wine - I add a set to help cope with it. I avoid hard liquor and beer as they just cause too many issues - but if you're very active you may find that you can have a little drink 2 even 4 times over a holiday. I wouldn't advise this during the winter months as most people are too sedentary November through March. ANd for me my attacks almost always occur in late October-early November. This year I proved 2 attacks through consultation with my eye doctor and proved healing through my suppliment combo, once again having my eye doctor measuring the pressure of the eye and doing a close examination.

Remember that our bodies basically excrete through urine the excess vitamins we don't absorb - so over supplimenting is useless unless you are not absorbing due to overt inflammation int he gut lining. As for minerals please DO NOT exceed the values I've offered as trace minerals should be just that - 'trace amounts'. It's all you need and they do wonders for the sex drive. Coming from a peri-menopausal woman at 47 this is really fantastic! I recommended this to my older sister when she was coping with a marital separation and moving stresses and over approx. 7-9 months she now looks and feels great and has her energy, sharpness and herself, back. Which is really fantastic as many women in their 40's and 50's get totally pooped-out and feel completely sexless. So if this is happening to you already in your 30's - which according to the metrics on this website that is the case with most of you - you're stressed out and it's time to help your body out with some good minerals.

Lastly - please get your life into a great place otherwise this condition will persist and disease will effectively set-in. Cartiledge breaks down, bones start smacking into each other and things get pretty painful along with the chemo - so do your best to be healthier and brighter and more zen now. It's your life after all; chicken shit or chicken salad, it's what you make it and you get to live it. All the best and here's to healthy eyes, ears, bones and digestive tracts! Cheers

    added an InstantMe for Feb 8, 2012 Feb 08, 2012 2:54AM

I am starting to get me energy back and my ability to think long term and plan somewhat. I also feel as though I can now earn a living and steadily work 6-8 hours/day - which wasn't the case a week and a half ago.
My HLA-B27 gene - which may offer ankylosing spondylitis shows some arthritic symptoms in my back, shoulders, toes, fingers and heals. I have troubles with caffeine and am having troubles with the left eye again - but I will stay away from all sugar, coffee, alcohol (as usual), make certain I take some protein w/each meal and avoid simple carbs or overcooked foods - w/some curcumin, icing and the odd IBUprofen I am hoping things will settle a bit. My attitude is good and positive now - which i am truly grateful for.
