- Risperdal was an attempt to regulate my depression. It was a disaster. The first night you take it, expect extreme fatigue and maybe even melancholic feelings the next day. This will pass. However, it will always be at lease minorly fatiguing. Also expect a huge increase in appetite. This may or may not pass within a couple of weeks. Antipsychotics are tricky--sometimes they (as I also tried Abilify) gave me energy that alternated with the fatigue. Just briefly, I was able to run very fast and have a pleasant afterglow afterwards when I was on the 1mg dose. Maybe I needed to be on 2mg.
