About faeroe347

Twenty years ago, I moved to Japan from Boston, Massachusetts, USA. My Japanese wife is bilingual and a retired Director of Nurses who last worked part time as an assistant in state rehabilitation services. We had a plan which has now reached a good stage: our condo remodeling for barrier-free life, is DONE. I've found it best, FOR MY OWN SAKE, as well as the sake of my family & friends, to try to be upbeat and cheerful - which is my normal temperament anyway. Friends call me an optimist. I like to think that I'm also a realist. Time will tell.

More About faeroe347

UPDATED 6/02/11 - PHOTOS;

 WE MOVED on 5/16/2011.  We're still unpacking...

This photo shows the carpeted front hallway of our old place, viewed from the kitchen; in the foreground is a raised three-inch barrier. The doorway on the right has a three-inch drop!

This shot shows the front hallway in our new, remodeled place; it's WIDE and FLAT. And the hardwood floors throughout can stand up to a heavy power chair.

   And THIS is what we're doing now: unpacking, sorting, throwing things away........

 Family photos :  in JAPAN.... my wife Chiyomi, with her Mom (R.I.P.)

In January, 2011, while being bathed at her nursing home, my wife's mother died. We held a Buddhist service for her. She was 92.

   (below) In the U.S. : my brother with his son "Lee" (named after me! Laughing ).

                      .....and now Lee is three!
