I'm joining this in advance so that I can get an idea of what's ahead for me, as I just had my first kidney transplant on Sep. 1, 2010 . I have Polycystic Kidney Disease and was diagnosed at 17, then had to have both kidneys removed at 37. I was on dialysis for more than three years, so needless to say, it was about time I get that transplant, and I am forever grateful and thankful for my donor. She's an altruistic, living donor...and there aren't enough people like her out there...which is why the wait time for a cadaver organ is now 5 years or longer!
