I received a kidney, cadaver, on May 24 2010, after waiting more that 8 years on the list with low antibodies. I accepted a high risk donor or it would have been longer, although the day before this kidney became available I was offered a directed donation from and internet friend who sadly lost her step son. There was no time to see if it matched before I was offered the kidney I accepted as we knew it was already matched. So far so good, home from hospital in 3 days, already only going to clinic every 2 weeks with twice weekly blood work. I received my transplant at UCSF.
