What is Radiofrequency thermal rhizotomy?

Radiofrequency (RF) rhizotomy or neurotomy is designed to decrease pain symptoms from degenerative facet joints of the spine. The procedure destroys nerves of the facet joints with highly localized heat using radiofrequency. The communication link that signals pain from the spine is broken.
