An adverse event is an unwanted effect that you experience as a result of taking a medication.
PatientsLikeMe provides Adverse Event Reporting to help you report serious medication side-effects directly to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). By doing so, you can help improve the outcomes and safety of everyone using your particular treatment--a goal that’s at the core of the PatientsLikeMe mission. (NOTE: This is only currently available for a few communities, including a voluntary program for Multiple Sclerosis patients and an automated/mandatory program for Epilepsy patients.)
Drug Safety is an important part of monitoring the use and effect of prescription and over the counter drugs. As part of our drug safety efforts at PatientsLikeMe, the Research and Development team will collect, monitor, research, and evaluate information about the side-effects associated with some of the medications used by our members. By sharing your side-effect information with the epilepsy community, you will be helping researchers, drug makers and patients like you, while having a voice in research about this disease. (NOTE: This is currently only being implemented in our Epilepsy community.)
