What is Vocal Cord Dysfunction?

Breathing causes the vocal cords to open, allowing air to flow through the windpipe and into lungs. With vocal cord dysfunction the vocal cords close or constrict during inhalation or exhalation leaving only a small opening for air to flow through the windpipe causing asthma-like symptoms.
