Medullary thyroid cancer is a tumor that usually presents as a mass in the neck or thyroid. It usually spreads (metastasizes) to the liver, lung, bone, and brain. There are two types: sporadic (non inherited) and inherited. Some symptoms may include hoarseness, enlarged thyroid (goiter), and cough.
