What is Transient Synovitis of Hip?

Transient synovitis of the hip or 'toxic synovitis' most commonly affects young children ages 3-10. Though the exact cause is unknown, its onset usually occurs after an infection. Symptoms include hip pain and limping and may later be associated with conditions such as arthritis.
