Genetic Counselor Hi there! I am a genetic counselor and I work with Dr. Teepu Siddique at Northwestern University in Chicago. This is going to be my first winter in Chicago and I must say that I’m a little nervous! Anyway, I work in our ALS/MND clinics on Wednesdays and Thursday afternoons. I am usually in our lab and involved in the research at the Neuromuscular Disorders Program. Our main research is focused on identifying genes associated with the development of ALS, both sporadic and familial type. (www.neurogenetics.northwestern.edu). Email

daughter of PALS My dad was diagnosed with ALS in August 2007 at the age of 62. I am an only child and very close to both of my parents, who are both absolutely incredible. My dad has kept up a positive attitude and a determination to enjoy every minute with his family and friends. My husband's family has also been so helpful and supportive. In January I joined with Humberto-From-Brazil to run a patient-lead effort to research lithium and ALS (http://alslithium.atspace.com) . Our project is now in official collaboration with PLM. I also work as a geophysicist and as a mom to baby Emmet, born on Nov. 4. Email

Hi, I am from your sister site PD and would like to share some helpful information that is applicable to all military and government workers. I have several projects going with the VA and the outcome may help us all PD , MS and ALS. There is a lot of government research into chemicals and toxins that can affect nerves. www.parkinsonsaction.org/Department-of-Defense-Parkinson-Research.html is a good place to look for info. It may say PD but it also applies to MS and ALS. There are other sites like www.va.gov to find information. I will help anyone file a va claim. Email

sister Hi there. I just found out yesterday that my brother is HIV positive. I'm really just trying to find out how to help him. Don't have any experience with this. If anybody would like to send me pointers, I sure would appreciate it. I love my brother so much. I cannot lose him, not now. When I have more to share, I will do so. Please, help if you can! Email
