Eyelid movements are affected in PSP. The number of blinks per minute is significantly reduced, which can lead to dry eyes and irritation. Also common in PSP is blepharospasm, the involuntary forced closure of the eyelids, as is difficulty with eyelid opening, sometimes called "apraxia of eyelid opening."
