What is Metamucil?

Metamucil® is a brand name for psyllium, an antidiarrheal laxative. It is used as a dietary fiber supplement; for the treatment of occasional constipation; and to reduce risk of coronary heart disease. Off label it is used for irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease.
