daughter of PALS | My dad was diagnosed with ALS in August 2007 at the age of 62. I am an only child and very close to both of my parents, who are both absolutely incredible. My dad has kept up a positive attitude and a determination to enjoy every minute with his family and friends. My husband's family has also been so helpful and supportive. In January I joined with Humberto-From-Brazil to run a patient-lead effort to research lithium and ALS (http://alslithium.atspace.com) . Our project is now in official collaboration with PLM. I also work as a geophysicist and as a mom to baby Emmet, born on Nov. 4. |

Genetic Counselor | Hi there! I am a genetic counselor and I work with Dr. Teepu Siddique at Northwestern University in Chicago. This is going to be my first winter in Chicago and I must say that I’m a little nervous! Anyway, I work in our ALS/MND clinics on Wednesdays and Thursday afternoons. I am usually in our lab and involved in the research at the Neuromuscular Disorders Program. Our main research is focused on identifying genes associated with the development of ALS, both sporadic and familial type. (www.neurogenetics.northwestern.edu). |

Intern, Harvard MPH Student | Hi there. I interned at PatientsLikeMe during the 2007-2008 school year and felt incredibly lucky to be a part of such an amazing team of folks. In May I finished up a master's in health policy and management at the Harvard School of Public Health, and recently moved to Portland, OR to work at a large health plan in their strategy department. I still check in on the site to see what's happening with new features, new members, and new partnerships, and I'm always promoting PLM to anyone who'll listen. |

Research Coordinator | I am a Research Coordinator working on a project to find genes that cause familial Motor Neurone Disease. This project has been going since 1991. We build information on families and collect family medical history and DNA from family members. We hope that this research will find new genes and lead to treatment strategies for all Motor Neurone Disease sufferers. We are located in Sydney and look for families all over Australia and New Zealand to participate in our research. |
