Caregiver chinagirl     I am the wife and primary caregiver of Ray, PALS diagnosed in May 2008. Since then, the disease has progressed rapidly: cane in May, walker and transfer chair in June, full-time power chair in July. Already his voce has softened and slowed and he is frequently short-of-breath, he tires easily, is beginning to have some difficulty swallowing and tremors have moved into his arms and hands and he has lost most all arm and hand strength. Despite all, he remains positive, peaceful and a joy to be with and I am blessed. Icon_message

Caregiver Coffee Coffee Lucky Tex Lucky Tex I live in Spring, Texas with my husband. He was diagnosed with ALS on November 14, 2007 - the day after our 45th wedding anniversary. He had been having symptoms since January, 2005. His whole attitude about having ALS and life in general is amazing. We have one son, Scott, who lives nearby and is a great help in caring for his Papa. We have great friends and a wacky sense of humor to help us through this. We also have one puppy that keeps us all on track. Icon_message

Caregiver daughterd     From my experience wiz my father who has been diagnosed since 2005 but has pretty much lost everything now, the only asset that he never lost was his love to Jesus. In times when me as a caregiver would blame God, he will thank him. He is an amazing father. He keeps himself busy with continously listening to church preechings and speeches that give him hope for life in Heaven. My advice is pray a lot , do not ever lose hope. Icon_message
Caregiver Thee General Thee General Lee and I met in 2006 and in 2007 he was DX'd with ALS so we are living our lives with this disease and don't plan on giving in. I'm here to learn on how to cope with it and perhaps be of some help to others. Everyday there is something new and we have to adapt in different ways. I'm a active person and enjoy being outdoors and taking care of our horses. This year he has not been able to ride but still enjoys being around them. My prayers are with everyone one of you. Caregiver wyrancher wyrancher     My husband was diagnosed with ALS in January 2009 at age 43. We manage a dude ranch together in northern Wyoming, just outside of Yellowstone. We met 20 years ago working on a dude ranch. We have been married for 17 years and have a wonderful family with two boys (13 & 8). My husband has the most amazing attitude and does not let ALS define him. I feel so blessed to be on this journey with my best friend. We like to say that this is not how we invisioned our Love Story but it is just Plan B! Icon_message
