Selegiline is a Monoamine Oxidase (MAO) inhibitor. It is an antidepressant and anti-Parkinson's agent. When used in combination with levodopa containing drugs such as Sinemet it can improve their efficacy by slowing the breakdown of levodopa. The transdermal product is used to treat depression.
