What is Omeprazole? Omeprazole decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is used to treat duodenal and gastric ulcer disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a hypersecretory condition. OTC preparations are used for frequent, uncomplicated heartburn.
