Advice/Tips
I have not taken Adderall before because both my neurologist and psychiatrist were concerned that it would cause me to have a seizure seeing as it is a stimulant. When Strattera was not working for me my psychiatrist and neurologist decided that it might be ok to try Vyvanse. It is very similar to adderall except for the way it is metabolized. Adderall is metabolized much more quickly resulting in a quick release of stimulant into the bloodstream that does not last all day. That is why people that are on Adderall have to take it at least 2 times a day. Vyvanse is metabolized more slowly because there is only enough of a certain enzyme available for the enzyme to metabolize the medication. That is why Vyvanse is safer for me and that is why I don't have to take it at least 2 times a day. 1 pill lasts between 8-12 hours. It has not lasted that long for me. However, compared to Strattera it is an amaazing medication. When I started taking it I could see a huge difference but it also made me stay awake even after 100mg of Benedryl, 600mg of Neurontin, and 3 shots of vodka. I don't think it is the source of sleep troubles for me so I think that I have become adjusted to that side effect to the point where I don't notice it all whether or not it is there. However, even though that is a good side effect to get rid of, its effect on my concentration has not been as strong as it was at first.
