Doxycycline is a tetracycline antibiotic used to treat a variety of infections; Lyme disease; inflammatory lesions associated with rosacea; intestinal amebiasis; severe acne. Off label it is used as a sclerosing agent for pleural effusion and vancomycin-resistant enterococci.
