What is Acidophilus?

Lactobacillus acidophilus is one of several bacteria used in the production of yoghurt. Acidophilus is considered a probiotic or "friendly bacteria", outcompeting more harmful microorganisms for their food supply. People take acidophilus to help digestion or boost their immune system.
