Lupus anticoagulant is an immunoglobulin that binds to phospholipids and proteins associated with the cell membrane. The lupus anticoagulant can interfere with blood clotting as well as in-vitro tests of clotting function. Paradoxically, lupus anticoagulants are also risk factors for thrombosis.
