What is Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH)?

Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy uses laparoscopy to visualize the uterus. Ligaments that support the uterus are cut using instruments inserted through the laparoscope and the uterus is removed vaginally. LAVH is associated with a much shorter recovery time than abdominal hysterectomy.
